INCUBE CHALLENGE 2026 - Glencore
The Challenge
How can LLM-assisted coding cut the time needed to build and connect a multi-part water model — from the day the scope and data are locked, to a model anyone can re-run, check and audit — without losing the technical quality, traceability and expert oversight that regulators and communities rely on?

Description
Glencore is an Anglo-Swiss multinational commodity trading and mining company and one of the world's leading producers and suppliers of natural resources. As demand for metals essential to the energy transition continues to grow, responsible resource management and environmental sustainability are increasingly important across the mining industry.
Water modelling plays a critical role in the development of future-facing metals projects, supporting environmental protection, regulatory permitting, community confidence, and financial assurance. However, integrating complex water-related data and modelling processes can be challenging, potentially delaying decisions and limiting the early identification of environmental risks.
The challenge is to explore innovative ways to improve the speed, reliability, and integration of water modelling in mining projects. The team must develop solutions that enable earlier risk identification, support more informed water-management decisions, and contribute to more efficient, transparent, and environmentally responsible mining operations.
